Week 7

  1. Week 7—After going through this course and learning about different technology tools, please write a post entitled the Top 10 Tech Tools I Can’t Live Without.
1. Twitter: I have been using twitter for quite some time to express myself. Since I have been in this course, I have found other ways to use it in a professional manner.  Twitter can help you find and follow others and pay attention to what is happening.  This semester, I must say that tweeting with my classmates was an advantage because we were able to connect and find solutions to our homework before contacting the teacher.
2. Wiki Spaces: I have to admit. At first, this assignment was a bit hard.  I wanted to cry. I must say that I learned a lot from it. Using wiki spaces would be an advantage for parents and teachers to communicate.
3. APPS: I have found apps to be very useful.  Parents and teachers can find different interactive games to help children meet the goals and objectives they are trying to reach for educational use.,
4. Delicious: I enjoyed using delicious because I was able to bookmark helpful resources that I can go back and use from time to time such as: online games and learning resources.
5. Animoto: I will definitely use this.  Especially, for my own children sake.  Just to record videos of my children will be fun and exciting for them.  I will be using this website again. Fun!
6. Bubbl.us: there's a first for everything.  I must say that using this site reminded me about making a web to a story.  I will use this again. Using this tech tool will help me to plan more efficiently for my children in the future.
7. Personal Blog: I find that using a personal blog will be a useful tool to parents to keep up with what is going on in a child's classroom. I can use a personal blog to give an outline about what is going on and if they need to bring any items to school for field trips, class projects, or whatever is needed in the classroom.
8. Worksheet and Puzzle Generator: I must say that children love doing puzzles and worksheets.  I will be able to use these tools to work with children one-on-one during our interaction activities.
9. IPhone/Smart phones: I must say that it is a good thing to have either/or.  This semester,I must say that I was able to tweet and nearly do all these activities using my IPhone.  One other thing I must add is that I was able to call my professor if I could not understand the instructions for class.
10. Glogster: I will be using this tech tools as well to prepare my lessons.  I found that using gloster was a very creative and unique.

Week 6-mobile apps

  1. Week 6—What mobile apps are available for your subject area? List and describe at least 4 apps that could be used on a smartphone, iPod, or iPad in the classroom. There are mobile apps for education sections in each of the subject area chapters in the Roblyer and Doering book.

I am a 4/5 year old preschool teacher.  I have found many apps that I can use daily with my children that are fun and educational.  There are many apps that are free and there are many that you have to pay for.  I use an IPAD daily to navigate apps that are beneficial to the students that I serve daily.  These apps are very useful and helpful to students to help enhance their learning skills.  These apps are:

Name that number: is a games that kindergartners can practice computation and order of operations.

ABC go:is a wonderful educational app that teaches children a variety of words related to modes of transportation and is a great addition to kindergartners.

ABC Farm:explores food, animals, and other items on the farm.

8 Planets:  Students will enjoy learning about the planets and earning ribbons in games testing their knowledge.

Doodle Buddy: students will enjoy creating their own masterpiece by using a variety of tools  will enjoy creating their own masterpiece using a variety of tools. next masterpiece using a variety of tools. This app really helps their eye-hand coordination.

4.Week 4—Read p. 143-152 in Roblyer and Doering book. Describe 3 kinds of material generators that you have used or would like to use in your classroom. Be specific about how you would use the tools.

Material generators: Help teachers and students produce instructional materials on paper and online.  Material generators include desktop publishing software, web page editors, whiteboard activity software, test generators and rubric generators, worksheet and puzzle generators, IEP generators, graphic document markers, and PDF and form markers.  I would like to use the following generators in my classroom: desktop publishing software, worksheet and puzzle generators, and graphic document markers.  One of the main reasons that I would like to use a desktop publishing software is to help me add text and graphics on newsletters that I can send out to my parents by keeping them informed about what's going on in our classroom. By using the worksheet and puzzles, this would allow me to create puzzles and worksheets for skill practice. Last but not least, graphic document markers. I would use this to recognize students for outstanding work that they have accomplished in my classroom.

Week 3

Week 3--Read Chapter 3 in Roblyer and Doering Book. Create a post about software and include descriptions of the five types of instructional software. In addition, give at least one example of software that illustrates each type of software and include a hyperlink.

This class, I must say is teaching me a lot. I am learning something new everday. Some of the information in the text that I have read was a bit new to me.  I must say that I plan to use the iformation in chapter three with my children at home and at work.

Instructional software is a general term for computer programs designed to deliver instruction or assist with the delivery of instruction on a topic.

Problem-Solving Teaching Functions: although simulations and instructional games are often used to help teach problem-solving  skills, problem-solving software is designed especially for this purpose. Problem-solving software functions may focus on fostering component skills in or approaches to general problem-solving ability; to provide opportunities to practice solving various kinds of content-area problems.

Week 2

Choose one of the following Hot Topic Debates from Roblyer and Doering book as your blog topic for this week.

A. Should students Play Games (software) in school? p. 97

Response: I must say that I feel like students should play games and use software in school. I must say that depending on the age of the student (pre-school age), teachers should not use this method as a crutch.  As a preschool teacher, I must say that as long as it is educational, I do not think that it is a problem.  In this day and time, nearly everything that put into our hands is technology based and I say, why shouldn't we allow our children to use software in school. To be honest, children in this day and time use technology devices better than we do.  I know for a fact that it gives them a reason to explore and eye-hand coordination.  We as teachers, should not use computer software as a crutch. We still have to teach our children/students so that they can have a well founded education.

Web 2.0 Resources

I am glad to say that I have learned a lot using these resources. At first, it was a little difficult and I thought that I was going to have to drop this assignment. I must say that I enjoyed doing them all, but what I like the most was using animoto.  I will use these resources again. They are all fun and creative. Each one of these resources can be used to express your creativity.  I must say that pictures says a lot when using theses resources. I hope each and everyone of you click on at least one of my resources. I would like to know what you think about it.
